Find or Become a Neuropsychologist

This means that the BNS is not involved in the development of accredited Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology courses nor in the regulation of those professions. The BNS also does not provide NHS or private psychological services to clients.

 To become a qualified practitioner neuropsychologist in the UK you will need: 


1. Doctoral training from an accredited professional doctorate in Clinical Psychology,

2. Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC, though this is more or less automatic if you complete your doctoral programme in the UK)

3. Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN) (2 years minimum, or part-time equivalent)

 

You may also pursue a career in research and teaching neuropsychology by completing a doctoral programme in a neuropsychology related project. By joining the BNS will be you become part of a network of scientists in the field and more aware of potential universities or labs that may offer specific training courses and internship, job or funding opportunities. 


The best way of finding a practitioner psychologist for private assessment or treatment sessions is to consult the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists.
